Bike In!

3:30pm day before the race, we made it to transition for Ironman Danish and Ironman BDubbs to drop their bikes.  Before leaving, BDubbs had to add some motivational images to his top tube…

ok--confession, we may have put that there for him....the CO2 I mean....

Once that was taken care of, the kids were ready to head out to their first day of school:

you can feel their nervous energy with their overloaded llbean bags....

They did some last minute tire pumping, and obviously, fist pumping before heading down the road…

airing up...they shared a sweet fist pump after, I can assure you....

With that moment thankfully over, we headed out on our mission…

very endless summer isn't it? just a little less cool...

When we got to transition, Rayray (gf of Bdubbs) and I almost lost the two Ironman as they were in speedy gonzales mode to hurry up and wait to get their bike checked out and approved before heading into the tent….we moseyed on over to the bike in to watch for them….this has to be my favorite part of the “experience” so far…so much to look at and EVEN COOLER is that there is a fenced off section specifically for industry leaders to take a count of each brand of bike frame, wheel, components, and accessories.  It was super cool to see branding and marketing in action.

us killing time taking long arm pics...

Once we took our obligatory long arm pics while waiting for the Ironmen, we headed back to the condo to prepare some AWESOME pre race delicacies:  chicken, spinach, and rice…yum!  The funny thing is, every try geek eats this pre race and this was obvious when we went to the supermarket and there was no chicken in the cooler…had to get the frozen tenderloins…doh!  No ship of chicken comes in until tomorrow—ahh, island life…

We ended up having a delicious meal, and afterwards had a very try nerdy and sports geek at large conversation about motivation.

the motivational meeting, I had to cut them off when they started singing kumbaya...

Personally, nothing gets me more amped up to go kill it that something like this commercial Versus put together last year…so I leave you with this:
